  Back in the 70s, when I was in the Army National Guard, my squad leader was an Airborne Ranger Vietnam combat veteran. When we were doing night maneuvers, he would sneak into the opposition camp and mark the back of the boots of everyone on watch, just to stay in practice. He was also our scout.

  The Fiji Guerrillas were a commando battalion consisting of two commando companies, raised by the New Zealand Army for service during World War II. The Fiji Guerrillas consisted of Fijian, Tongan and Solomon Islander servicemen, who served under the command of New Zealander and British Solomon Islands Protectorate Defence Force (BSIPDF) NCOs. The commando companies were tasked with conducting reconnaissance, scouting and special operation activities against Japanese forces as part of the Pacific War. They were disbanded in 1944

  He was definitely MACV-SOG. He wrote the training manual for the two prior wars in jungle and gorilla warfare. No way he wasn’t taking part in that party.

  Considering how much of a &quot;main character&quot; this guy was and how many disasters he averted, one has to wonder how much worse things would be and how many friendlies would have been dead in the alternate timeline where that pistol went off when he was depressed after what happened with those workplace accidents
