What a tender spirited man. Really details the human sacrifice so many young boys faced in that battle.

This is an exceptional individual and soldier, this is the first video I have seen where a white soldier actually praised the 761st Tank Battalion (Color) unit that fought straight for 183 days in continuous combat. The US Army failed to recognize the accomplishments of the 761st Tank Battalion. His ability to recalled specific events was remarkable. Thank you capturing this important part of ETO history for the future generations.

My uncle fought with the 17th in the 517th rpct. I'll never forget his stories and sacrifice. May God bless these men. Thank you for documenting their stories

My grandfather was in the 17th airborne, and was at the Bulge and Operation Varsity. He told me he hang glider in on Varsity. My grandfather told me a story about how he blew up a bridge to stop the allied troops from being able to retreat at the Bulge. I once asked him how he survived while so many did not, and all he said was "I kept my head down".

Like you said in the introduction, probably the best interview to date.
Both my grandfather s were infantry for Canada and my mom's dad was put in a home at 39 years old.
These stories time and again prove the sacrifice made by all.
Both grandfather s came home, but mentally they were shattered.

God bless them all.

Awe inspiring interview, Larry! Thanks for putting this one up. The 101 & 82 got most of the coverage, but these men served with great distinction as well! You're gone now John, your service is still appreciated. RIP!!!

"...Their faces never changed. The one thing about those that died in the war, they have remained perpetually young." What a historically and philosophically profound insight into the nature of those lost to war.
