Of course, this man is the expert for his orchard. However, I have seen videos on more mature trees that have been pruned this horizontal to the ground and they end up having to have braces put under the branches to keep them from breaking off. I would prefer more of a 45% angle- so the branches can still support themselves. Also, when you only have a couple trees- lopping off that much of it will bring tears to your eyes😅. I just had to remove over half of my grape vines with pruning and it is tough seeing most of the growth on the ground.

I moved next to a peach orchard years ago. The owner cut them back drastically and I was thinking he killed them. When they got ripe the peaches were the size of softballs. I couldn't believe it.

This is so helpful. I’m still early in establishing my orchard and such clear, simple advice is very much appreciated. Cummins is also a great place to buy trees. Thank you!
