I am a really old adult learner and how you bow in the first couple minutes is exactly how I bow, wrist completely stiff, all done by elbow and shoulder.

Thank you. The main difference for me was to understand how to exert pressure by index and counter action (upward force of stability) by the thumb and I was able to feel the dynamic stability while the rest of the fingers were less engage toward the tip and more engaged toward the frog. In a way, there is a part of the hold that is less flexible because it sort of acts as a pivot (index and thumb facing the cello) and the part of the hold that is more flexible (middle finger, ring finger, and little finger). Once that was clicked for me, pronation became more natural and made sense.

I have never been interested in violin ( fiddle). Have a mandolin for fiddle tunes, old time and irish, but always wondered how missing with a cello would be. Thank you young lady for the tips on the bowing.
