  I actually am an unschooled kid, it sucks. I have the academic abilities of a 5th grader, and I just play video-games all day because there's really nothing else to do. Big problem with unschooling is that even if you ask your parents a question, there's no guarantee that they can answer it, and even if they do, it can be whatever inaccurate conspiracy crap they believe

  Im an unschooled kid, and it genuinely sucks. My mom stopped caring about me going to school, and I'd literally do anything to get into school. All I do is sit in bed all day, I have no friends and nothing to do, I feel so helpless and pathetic but theres nothing i can do until im 18 ☹️

  As someone whos been homeschooled my whole school life, im completely cooked. Since my parents are MY parents they take every single problem i get wrong on my homework personally. They get angrier faster and lose patience quicker. Ove developed horrible anxiety about my grades and when my math grades started dropping because i didnt understand the curriculum and my parents arent qualified teachers, i just started cheating and taking pictures of the answer book. Theres so much pressure on me and i was disappointing everyone and i just wanted it to stop. Please please please for the love of God, if you want to homeschool be qualified first and THEN ASK YOUR CHILD as well.

  For most of my life, I was unschooled, and all I would do was play video games, which completely wrecked my confidence and social ability. the main problem with unschooling is the amount of freedom you have, which allows you to do what you feel is more enjoyable in the moment rather than doing what you will actually benefit from. I had a small circle of friends who were also unschooled, which made me more confident that doing nothing was ok. but eventually I got bored. I asked my parents if I could go to high school, and they said yes, however I only had about 6 months until my freshman year would begin. I tried my hardest to catch up (from a 5th grade level) spending around 8 hrs a day (even on weekends/breaks) on what I thought the essentials were (math, ela) right up until the first day of school. during this time I was incredibly stressed and anxious about how little time I had and how much I had to do, but I did it. I had never experienced being part of a public school system for my entire life, and never had a dedicated schedule for anything academic, so the jump was challenging, but I adapted and got through to the end of the year with multiple school academic awards for math, language and science. I completely agree with what joe and thechadx2 had to say, but it goes to show that its a person-to-person situation. some unschoolers (like myself and my older brother) feel unfulfilled, whiles other (my old friends) are fine with not doing anything productive. if you REALLY want to succeed, just go for it and put your all into it. I am not about to begin my Sophomore year in high school and I love it. (MB for writing a whole ass book)

  They label pencils based on degree of hardness of the graphite. H stands for hard and B stands for soft. The number is for how strong it is and therefore how dark or light it writes. If the number increases over B graphite gets softer (example: 9B writes extremely dark) and if it increases over H the graphite gets harder (example: 9H writes extremely light). Hard graphite writes lighter since the graphite doesn’t break onto the paper as easily and soft writes darker because the soft graphite breaks off more pigment.   <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC0TxNyzcgE&amp;t=380">6:20</a> I was never homeschooled, but if i asked my mom “what’s 7+5” at 6 years old my mom would tell me to count on my fingers. Not just tell me the answer, because she understood that just telling me an answer doesn’t do anything.

  As someone who is homeschooled now (i wasn’t my whole life) by parents who said they want to “shelter me and keep me innocent as long as possible” i’m glad i had previous friends from old schools still in my life bc i would be so cooked with social skills
