What is the TRUE PURPOSE of the FUNTIMES? (FNAF Theory)

People seem to forget that William, while characterized in the franchise as some kind of super genius, is also characterized as being pretty careless. He left his daughter alone with Circus Baby on the very first day she was operational despite not intending for her to be a victim (or he could have simply programmed Circus Baby to recognize his daughter and to know she's not a potential target). Also he leaves evidence of his crimes everywhere, so much so that the only explanation for how he doesn't get caught much earlier is that the police in FNAF need to be overwhelmingly incompetent (or just plain corrupt, could be that, too). So when you find that Circus Baby's attempts to capture kids only results in them being horribly murdered insider her stomach cavity, that seems more like William being careless in his designs rather than an intent to murder them this way. We know from the schematics that the robots are intended to capture and hold their prey alive, but we also know that the endos for these bots are insanely convoluted, to the point that it seems highly unlikely that any child would make it into the compartment alive at all.

So yeah, the Funtimes not being meant to kill but killing anyway because their capture mechanics were poorly thought out and designed is really just pure William Afton all around.

Afton understanding how remnant/agony and possession work could also be another reason why he killed Charlie outside, away from the animatronics. So she couldn't come back

Always weird finding a new theorist hoping the algorithm is kinda enough to get this going

the fact that the only suits designed by william are the spring traps is honestly such a good piece of evidence because it shows how careless he is when designing he only thinks of the mechanics and not the people meant for the machine. this can be seen in how the spring traps on the surface are a really good invention allowing them to be endos or suits depending on the situation but he failed to consider the safety of the spring traps so they end up killing employees so him making animatronics that are on the surface the perfect kidnapping tool he failed to consider how the claw would just kill them on impact.

just left a comment questioning the premise of the theory right before the second fakeout ending, that you then immediately answered in the next section. Got my ass ig. Pretty good video

Have you given any thought that Michael could be the player of fnaf world. Struck with grief after accidentally killing his brother. Sitting by his death bed hearing the flat line. Then thrown into the fnaf 4 torture chambers by William to punish him. Sister location indicates Michael playing, which he also says in a monologue that he put her back together, referring to Elizabeth.

There's one thing you missed about Circus Baby's Pizza World's opening. In FNAF 3, it's stated that due to "multiple similarities springlock failures at a sister location" the springlock suits will be discontinued. In Sister Location, there is a springlock suit from Pizza World that was "not used the way it was meant to be used", suggesting it's the suit that caused the failures mentioned in the tape. In the tape after that one it's stated that the SpringBonnie costume was moved, suggesting the MCI took place after the suits were discontinued.

At the start of Sister Location, William is talking to the board of the directors. This has to be during or before 1985 since William was fired from Freddy's because of his connections to the MCI, as seen in FNAF 2 where he has to use a fake name.

This points to Handunit's line about opening after Freddy's closing being about the rental business, not Pizza Wold. This doesn't invalidate your theory, in-fact I think it helps it. If William made the Funtimes to kidnap before the MCI then discovered remnant from Elizabeth then it gives motive for him to kill more kids to test his new theory at Freddy's (since Pizza World is closed). Then when it works, it allows him to make the scooper for the rental bunker before being fired due to being a suspect for the MCI.

With that being said I personally find it more concincing that the stomach claw was William's attempt at discreetly recreating the bite of 83 to farm agony through death after the nightmare chambers fail to produce enough agony to show proper possession.

Still a wonderful theory though!

William, Henry, and Edwin are all absolutely careless geniuses with very poor planning. Edwin and Henry are moreso middling in morals, capable of dark, messed up things when pushed. But William overall is the bigger monster. But they all have some of the craziest but most convoluted and accidentally brutal machines. Edwin is more the guy who's stuff was stolen and copied depending on what assets were seized in his property. But while Henry likely was one who would prefer to fix machines if something is seriously wrong, and Edwin was not going to without promptings due to needing Ritalin or something, William leans into the flaws to either take credit for murderous intent, to not take credit but still revel in the suffering, or pretend or actually adore dying in the Springlock Bonnie's failure due to just having a severe insecurity complex that requires Springbonnie to be worn by him for confidence and peak mental functionality.

This theory has narrative parallels to the events of SotM, which I think bolsters the theory as Scott likes a but of poetic symmetry. The Mimic was also designed for another function, but ends up being the vessel for Edwin's dead son, witnesses violence and from then is 'broken' and needs to be 'fixed'. I don't wish to confuse the point I'm making here by going into speculation, but this connection, along with the idea that the Funtimes (or at least Circus Baby) run on a version of Mimic code/software, would make it possible that the only reason Elizabeth was killed by the Circus Baby animatronic is because the Mimic program, having been previously exposed to violence has now integrated that into its programming. Both the CB we meet in SL and F10-N4 in SotM are emotionally manipulative. When remarking about David Murray's death, F10 uses Edwin's emotions to motivate him to create a second Mimic. She 'pretends' to understand that the death of a child is a world-shattering event, but really she just sees a spot open up in the family for more robots. Later, this same behaviour is apparent as F10 pleads with Edwin to 'fix' M2 after he exposed it to violence. Similarly, Circus Baby is likely using Mike's emotions against him to motivate him to 'fix' her. In other words, she pretends not to understand what makes her 'broken', placing herself as a confused bystander in her own body witnessing the killings but not taking accountability, because to Michael, of course his younger sister who died before the age of 10 is innocent. Until she reveals she really isn't..

I've been thinking, could the claw be part of Circus baby's ice-cream dispenser? Meant to grab a cone, put it under the dispenser proper and then present the ice cream for the kid to grab but not having any (functional) safeties for when out of cones.
