I think young shooters need more rules and veterans need less. Not sure if it's good to tell newbies to blow out backgrounds lol, but this is a super valuable video for those of use with 10+ years of experience. Love it, keep up the great work Mark!

FINALLY!!! good lord lol iv'e been shooting by this practice since i started NO RULES!!! creativity should not have rules if the lens is telling a story thats what the camera should be recording i'm a old dog and this has been my entire life career being behind the camera and i get so tired of these so called "directors" and "DP's" here on youtube telling new kids you gotta do this and you gotta do that when they should be telling them grab something that shoots video get off youtube and go outside and start shooting something then try and edit a story out of it you'll learn so much more this way and learn your own style vs stealing someone else.

you know what i love most about this video? i look up to Mark Bone at all the guys at AOD because their approach and quality of work. and seeing someone you look up too, still learn new things for themselves makes me excited to see how high this creativesphere ceiling is. you really never stop learning!

I was able to attend a similar workshop. You learn the differences between working cinematographers vs YouTube videographers. Nothing wrong with the latter, but working cinematographers rely on the less is more approach.

I've been shooting interviews for years. I have never understood the commandment that every head needs a backlight. <br>Pretend you're having a conversation with Rembrandt. <br>"Yo, R, baby. No back light in your portraits? Gonna piss off your clients. You'll never make it in the portrait biz."
