  Back in the 1970s I was a floor director at a Milwaukee TV station who produced a one-hour talk show at noon. Twice within a period of 4 months, we had Mr. Nimoy as a guest as he was acting in a series of plays locally. For the second appearance, he escorted himself into the studio as he was familiar with the layout. The moment he saw me, he recognized a familiar face. It was about an hour before the show so I had the thrill of filling Leonard's time with talk of the show, the episodes he liked or hated, and his character's eccentrics. He talked about the Spock pinch, any upcoming motion pictures and show biz in general. We smoked a cigarette together. I found him to be an engaging, warm, intelligent and friendly man. During this period in my life, I met dozens of celebs. Meeting Leonard Nimoy was undoubtedly the high point of a wonderful 10 year career in broadcasting.

  I cried when Leonard Nimoy died. I weep now, because Jim is truly alone. His dearest friends have gone. and his prediction proved true.
