  I lived in Holland for over 6 years in the 90's. Service was invisible. We'd go to a restaurant and the server wouldn't even acknowledge our existence. No smiles,  no "good morning" or "good evening". So it makes me smile when Europeans come to our country and the server would greet them, not for a tip, but because overall we're friendly and really want to get to know people. We're not shy in striking up a conversation with a stranger, not because we're nosy, but because we truly want to know their stories. I'm proud to be an American and I hope visitor's experiences are something they will cherish.

  Lived in europe to years food is good but america options in food choices is unmatched and so wonderfull

  The part that surprised me is when I found out that many in Europe thought we were lazy. How can you possibly think a country which has gotten as much done in 250 years as we have is lazy?

  America is the unity of every country, every race, every religion, and seemingly, every. Gender. It’s. HARD to live together with this diversity. It’s difficult to have to learn to live together. But LOOK at what WE have accomplished together?

  Even many elementary schools have huge soccer fields, large playgrounds, and full-size gyms. For many visitors, it’s surprising how much space American schools have compared to schools in other countries.

  We may not care about Soccer here like the rest of the world. But we are exceedingly good at hospitality.
