  HI Steve, High voltages cause an electro-chemical breakdown of silicone Si-O bonds. this breakdown is making the boot thinner in that area and eventually the HV electricity finds a path to ground with less resistance than a sparkplug gapped at 0.010".

  Best way to find spark leaks is by turning off all the lights in your shop and watch it in the dark while idling. Bad wires and/or boots put on quite the light show.

  morning steve , you should disect the msd boot , split it down the middle see if theres  any visual damage on the inside .would be interesting ,make for a good small segment of an upcoming video

  :_dewey:Nice to see the whole family.  For Kyle I think drifting improves driving skills for the unexpected slide on the drag strip.  Those high power ignitions are causing Corona inside the spark plug boot.  This happens when you hit the Corona Inception Voltage (CIV).  Corona produces Ozone in the air voids inside the plug boot.  Ozone decomposes the rubber/polimer boot material until it blows a hole through it, from the inside.  fill your boot with delectric grease and then shove the sparkplug wire in the boot.  The grease is meant to fill the air voids. :_dewey:
