Tesla practically invented the methods we use to transfer electricity today, and yes, he did want to make it free, but Edisons smear campaign shut him down so badly that a lot of people to this day don't know how important of a figure Tesla actually is, and if Edison won this rap battle, it would be actually very meta in a way

"You did not steal from me, you stole me from mankind" remains one of the rawest lines I've ever heard

not only did Tesla wanted to make power free, he also delveloped wireless transmission of electricity and laid the foundation for the research that led to wifi

When you called "Battle Over" I was like "Oh boy, Scru, you're about to eat your words. You called it early, pal" And then your expression at Tesla's final lines... Priceless.

That last line was one of the hardest triples + double paring in ERB "Curse the Con Eddison with every Utility"
- They will curse the conman Eddison (Person)
- They will curse the Con Eddison (Company)
- They will curse the con that Eddison perpetuated (Idea)
- With every Utility (Bill)
- With every Utility (Capacity)

"They would curse the con Edison with every utility" Con Edison is the utility that everyone in NYC pays their electric bills too. That bar is harder than people realize.

This is honestly the type of ERB that benefits from looking at the comments of the video or watching a short video on the people in involved.
What truly sucks about the reality of it, and what makes Tesla's 2nd round so amazing is the Line "You did not steal from me, you stole me from mankind" Tesla was truly a man who thought about the betterment of society as a whole, rather than having the most money around. Edison used him in various ways, and left him on a path of obscurity and poverty.

Yes, Nikola tesla tried to make electricity free, and ultimately, Edison's attempts at discrediting Tesla and his greed to make money with his inventions caused that plan to fail. In many ways, it follows the same events and formula that the rap did, with low-blows from Edison until Nikola's final verse.

so the real question is; do you want to support Edison, who fought hard and dirty? or support Nikola, who tried to revolutionize electricity, and succeeded.

I know who I support more ;P

 This battle's just fire.
And Edison's "Alternate Current vs Direct Current" wordplay diss was ON POINT.

"They would curse the conEdison with every Ultity"
is also a double as the (at least NY, might be true for NJ and others nearby) conEdison is THE electric company. no choice in the matter.

"You never had zex" - actually, Tesla was a bit of a ladies' man - the girls were chasing him. Thing is, IIRC, he explained once how he could not have pursued his inventions if he had a wife and kids to care for. Dude literally chose science and mankind over having a wife and family on his own, despite more or less having the pick of the town in his youth.

To me, the best line in this battle, and probably one of the most fire lines in any of the ERB battles, was "You did not steal from me, you stole me from mankind."
I feel like that's such a hard bar, that it pretty much nullifies EVERYTHING that comes before it from Edison. Because even if it isn't a super-dope lyric, and even if it isn't a hard punch, what it does is so much more powerful than that: It makes the AUDIENCE hate your opponent because it shows how much he's taken from them. It's one thing to win a battle by humiliating your opponent, but if you can make your audience actually HATE your opponent, then you basically win by default at that point. That line is like the rap version of pulling an Exodia: Once you use it, it doesn't matter what came before, it's just over. Honestly, I don't know how you can even legally give the W to Edison after a bar like that, especially since it's TRUE.
