  Nothing should be noticed. I can understand  that,  but if taken too far it makes me feel like I’m a motel. I want positive things to be noticed, things that show me who these people are, what they like, what they do. You know - look as if they actually live there.  😊

  I really don't care what anyone thinks of me, my furniture or my taste.  I know I have wonderful taste, and my home reflects that, but I am not putting things together to give someone a fake image of who I am.  There’s a difference between creating a home that reflects you and creating a home that is staged to communicate status or manufacture an impression for other people. My furniture, art, landscaping, jewelry—whatever I choose—can simply be there because I like it, it feels right to me, and I enjoy living with it. It doesn’t have to prove sophistication, wealth, taste, or anything else to anybody. And that distinction actually matters: “I chose this because I love it” is very different from “I chose this because I want you to think something about me.” What I am describing is authenticity. My home is beautiful and carefully considered without being a performance.

  I remember back when I was a teenager I came ip with an insight that a female face looks beautiful if it is oval, symmetrical, and had nothing particularly unusual. Why? Because that made it easiest to see. Nothing had to be wondered about. I still think that’s true in general. What makes someone extremely beautiful is the expression on their face. Or some features that are more symmetrical and delicate that usual.

  Блин, богатый дом, в котором подают картофельные чипсы из магазина! Может кухонный персонал можно было загрузить более квалифицированной работой - чтобы они, например, приготовили домашнее печенье вместо покупных чипсов? Ну и заклеивание мигающих индикаторов изолентой, чтобы каждый раз её отклеивать, когда надо узнать, работает ли роутер нормально...

  Самое интересное, что эти советы годятся и для тех домов и квартир, где и в самом деле семьи жили поколениями! Есть вещи и начала 20-го века,  и второй половины 20-го века, и немного - 21-го века. Надо только убрать лишние вещи и сделать так, чтобы всё оставленное было в гармонии. У меня нет необходимости состаривать что-то искусственно или покупать на барахолке чужие старые вещи - надо лишь набрать ся знаний от дизайнеров и в соответствии с этим навести порядок в доме и в квартире. Они не будут выглядеть дорого, у нас никогда не было больших денег, но уютный интерьер с историей семьи - это не обязательно дом миллионеров.

  A house in the same family since the 50s? Which 50s - 1950s, 1850s (like my family&apos;s home built in the 1830s) or 1750s (like my in-laws)? That&apos;s the US. If Europe, is it the 1650s, 1550s, or even older? <br><br>I generally agree with all the statements. It befuddles me when a visitor may ask about where something came from. I reply that it&apos;s always been there. They infuriate me if they ask if it came from Pottery Barn or RH. These people are not invited back.

  Какие у нас старые деньги? &nbsp;Каждое поколение ссылали, раскулачивания, расстреливали, грабили! У нас в древних родах богатая только история, полная ужасных событий. Мало кому удавалось жизнь сохранить не то что кресло. Старинная роскошная обстановка, особняки, земли были разграбленны пролетариатом! Теперь в доме из винтажного только чемодан и несколько портретов. Не вижу смысла умышленно старить мебель, все повороты судьбы интерьер не расскажет. Можно я буду называть &quot;старыми деньгам&quot; остаток от прошлой зарплаты? 🤣
