  There is a major retailer in Japan named “MUJI” meaning “unbranded”.  Literally, their products, clothing, furniture, kitchen wear, and stationeries don’t have logos.  Their minimal design and “non brand” strategy leads huge success.

  I'm middle class and I hate it when clothes have logos on them. It feels like I'm supporting their brand, which I'm not. I want quality, not branding. I also don't want to look like I'm a big spender (which is the only thing a luxury brand tells me about you), I want to look put together.

  I used to work for a billionaire business man. He had everything hand sewn by a tailor. All the shirts, suits. Occasionally he would buy a few things in designer stores but very rarely. Shoes were also hand made. They want quality, durability not logos.

  The rich also rather go for designers and custom made clothes by brands that are not mainstream, the is a difference in “I have that bag too” and “I got this bag from this local designer, he made it custom for me and this scarf is one of 3 ever made”

  Rich people do buy luxury items. They may not be flashy but they absolutely buy luxury. Watches, boats, cars, homes etc

  This reminded me of a comic strip in Mad Magazine which was about how people dressed in a big company - it started at the bottom where some Teenager was dressed in jeans and a T shirt and then went up the corporate ladder where each step was dressed a bit finer until it reach to the top of the owner of the firm  . . . who dressed exactly like the teenager at the bottom, in a T shirt and jeans cause he had nothing to prove or gain from anybody.

  Quiet luxury is more about safety and happiness instead of being a style. Anyone who wants a good life knows the importance of being rich and NOT famous.

  If you are very rich, you get bespoke. You also don't waste money on fads. Buy once, wear forever because it fits perfectly, you love it and you don't have to waste precious time worrying over appropriateness etc.
