  So, my marketing teacher in high school swore up and down that one of his students started the whole green M&amp;M thing as a stunt to outsell other student groups in a regional contest, and that the legend grew from there. For the record I was always dubious of his claim, although he had never before told any tall tales of the sort. He told us this back in 1996 in the US state of Connecticut, though I&apos;m not sure how long beforehand this took place.

  I know that if I were in a study, and a bowl of singular-colored candy was presented to me, I would be distracted by trying to figure out what the study was trying to discover, whereas being in a room with a bowl of normal distribution candy colors, I would assume they were just there as a bonus snack to help the subjects focus on the task at hand. Maybe that&apos;s a future theory too, &quot;does eating while doing a task help you focus?&quot;

  I hypothesize that a mixed bowl of color is possibly more &quot;fun&quot; thus leading to a higher rating than just a plain color, no matter what color that is
