Wow, I've never even heard of this film. It was actually very good! The acting was better than average for the time period. This may be one of the most sympathetic roles Robert Armstrong has played, and young Kent Douglass (aka Douglass Montgomery) was quite appealing. A few years later he was one of the final contenders to play Ashley Wilkes in Gone with the Wind. You can still some of his screen tests online and while Leslie Howard was very good, Montgomery was actually more age-appropriate for the role. And Joan Crawford? Absolutely excellent in this role.

Joan Crawford so young here and acted very well for someone with no formal training! Beautiful too!

Ahh Douglas Montgomery as Joan’s love interest…. A favorite of mine who died of spinal cancer in 1966 … he was only 56…

What a treat!!! Joan Crawford in her pre-code film days. Love every film I've ever seen of hers. She was at her prettiest in the early 1930s, and a terrific actress for the rest of her life. Won an academy award for Mildred Pierce. She was nominated for two additional films and should have been nominated for a few other films too. Never tire of her great performances. Thank you, PizzaFlix for bringing this Joan Crawford film to your channel. I am looking forward to many of the pre-code films she made in 1931, 1932, 1933, and 1934. All of them entertaining and fascinating because of her performances!
