I've been in the electronics repair industry for more than 12 years now and am currently running for congress (Elyon Badger MI07) and one of my policies is a "technology bill of rights" that will force companies to make parts available for sale to the repair market, as well as schematics for repairs, right to repair used to exist, lets bring it back!

Seems like NVidia wants to be able to do their own easy repairs but are happy to give the average joe the bird when they need a $10 part.

those parts exist but nvidia dont wants to sell them separatly

From the brief look at that pcie mini board, it looks like it might just be a fan out from the connector to the pcie edge connector. If you can test the pin connectivity it may be possible to relativly simply reverse engineer it and get one of the Chinese custom pcb manufacturer to make you a few.

Never have brand allegiance, I like the video cards nVidia makes because of the features (NVENC encode, decode, Redshift / Octane rendering, multi frame gen) , but I don't support their practices.

the craziest thing is that the replacement part is so small it could be sold in multi-piece blister trays, and if storage is a problem, a desk drawer can hold hundreds of them

They manufacture in a modular way so multiple facilities can easily handle the production, which helps reduce costs and improves security. However, when one of the modules fails, there won’t be any replacement units available because they don’t keep spare modules in stock

    you've got 2 options:

find a dead unit & use the parts from it

delaminate the tiny broken PCB part to see what traces there are. it should be simple power planes + maybe some impedence matched signal traces. then hand solder wires to join broken connections

The real resolution here would be NVIDIA making a supply of components available for repair outfits such as yourself, instead of forcing you to source parts elsewhere. Some people don't have enough money to buy a brand new card if their one dies, but you can almost put money on those same people being able to scrimp enough together for a repair. Not to mention having the availability of OEM parts would make repairs that much more reliable.

would save on a whole lot of e-waste.

Apparently, there's no other way than to look for a donor card on the second-hand market; it's similar to the PCI slot used by the 5070.
