Think of how much we know about Ferrix after just a few episodes of one season. They bury their dead in ceremonial bricks. They use drum patterns to signal each other when Corpos are near. They have a charitable social club for prominent women. They keep their work gear out in the open because they don’t fear theft. The gong that starts the work day has ritual significance. Their grandest building is a historic hotel leftover from colonial times. This feels like a real place. It’s lived in, it has a culture. So when it’s occupied by the empire, we have a real sense of what is lost, and what the people are fighting for.

in essence this is Cassian attending his own funeral too. Here he gives his life to the rebellion for real and fully commits to the cause. His old self truly dies here with marva. Also he never gets his stone.

Gets to you, doesn't it? That's what a reckoning sounds like. You want it to stop, but it just keeps coming. It's when it stops. That's when you really want to start to fret.

Star Wars always talked to our inner child. Then Andor has this bold idea of talking to the adult, and it succeeded.

That moment at 4:00 where the whole parade halts, the music shifts to an inspiring score, and they advance in unison *daring* the oppressors to retaliate gets me every time. One of the most stirring parts of season 1.

The brilliance here is that the uprising on ferrix wouldnt have worked if we didnt learn about the people, their culture and their society first.
The main criticism of andor season 1 was that it was too slow, but it didnt waste that time with filler. We got to know this place until it felt like we ourselves were part of it. So when all of a sudden the imperial army, and the stormtroopers march up, and try to restrict the culture of the people of ferrix, we feel what is being taken away. When they open fire, we feel like its not just extras pretending to die, its like the loss of a friend, a family member, a neighbor and a loved one.

We fully understand why these people rise up, we know what is at stake. More than lives. Its history, its culture, its society and its freedom.

It feels so much like a funeral march that is played by a community marching band. Nothing to fancy but very impactful

The build up from ep1 to the season finale is truly masterful and one of the best I’ve ever seen. I love it. Andor is the best live action Star Wars material since the original trilogy. Best material along side rogue one Disney has produced by far!

Andor really is the only part of Star Wars that doesn't feel like a soulless toy commercial. It is genuinely one of the greatest works of serialized science fiction ever made. I can't reason with Star Wars fans who dis like it for not having more clones and jedi and cameos.

This march is Nemik's manifesto in musical form and every time I listen to it it brings tears to my eyes.

It starts off slow and somber in 4/4, typical march time signature, in a minor key. But every three measures you get one measure in 3/4. It sounds a little off, puts you off-step for a moment if you're marching to it or, like, tapping your foot or whatever, and it contributes an unsettled air to the sad feeling of that initial march to the square. "There will be times when the struggle seems impossible . . . alone, unsure, dwarfed by the scale of the enemy."

As it goes, more instruments join and the piece gathers power, growing almost organically into a full-throated chorus. "Remember this: freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction."

The procession reaches the street, and Maarva's stone is carried through the crowd. The band is replaced by a horns-only segment playing a plain melody almost like a single voice, and towards the end starts developing some phrasing in major key - more uplifting, more inspiring. "And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward."

Then the march down the street begins. It is in 12/8, a more upbeat time signature and at a faster tempo, lending itself to tension and urgency. The imperials immediately respond by forming riot lines. "Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear."

The first few measures of the flute are discrete, with rests between them, but as the crowd advances down the road the music becomes quite literally restless, a nonstop flute melody above everything. You can only do this with a group, not alone, because flutists need to take breaths. Rebellion requires strength of community. "There are whole armies, battalions that have no idea that they've already enlisted in the cause."

The last measures of the march, as Brasso and Bee are forced to stop in front of the Imperial riot troops and the band forms around them, are repetitive, the same three-note pattern over and over again, building tension. "Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks."

And then the final act. A brief pause and then the same pattern starts again but now it's in a major key. It's uplifting. It's optimistic. And it's not just the flutes anymore, but now the horns join back in, and the other instruments, and it's a glorious riot of joyful noise looking forward, looking upward, and now the people join in, chanting together in one voice. "The day will come when all these skirmishes and battles, these moments of defiance will have flooded the banks of the Empires’s authority and then there will be one too many."

And then Maarva appears, and she delivers a call to action. "Try."

With this episode of Andor, Star Wars universe somehow reaches to the level of Godfather type cinematography.
