  In the past few days, Darfur has once again come to international attention as RSF forces stand accused of committing atrocities. This comes on top of reports of other mass atrocities. However, unlike twenty years ago, when the region was top of the international agenda, with celebrities lining up to highlight the issue, this time its received barely any media attention. So, is Darfur really facing a new genocide? Can it hope to gain wider attention when so many other crises are occurring? And what should the international community do about it?   It&apos;s actually remarkable how little press coverage this conflict has received, being one of the largest humanitarian crises of the 21st century. The quality of reporting has been extremely uneven during this almost 3 year conflict, take for example the reporting on estimated casualties referenced by news outlets. Most organisations have said something along the lines of &quot;up to 150,000&quot; with no reference to its source. It&apos;s absoultely astonishing that none seem to be aware of its provenance - it is a number quoted by Tom Perriello former US Special envoy to Sudan in around May of last year, it is over 1 year out of date. The most recent estimate Tom Perriello has referenced is over 400,000 (see - Opinion | In Sudan, No One Doubts That This Is Genocide by Nicholas Kirstof in the NY Times).<br><br>How is it news organisations seem to be very capable of giving frequent and periodic estimates of casualties in the Ukraine and Gaza Wars but seem to have no idea of what is happening in a war that has resulted in the largest humanitarian crises of this century? It is quite simply journalistic malpractice and ultimately down to the fact that audiences (and news organisations) don&apos;t really care about conflicts on the African continent. I am genuinely disturbed that there is such indifference to what is happening.

  Some Arabs in the comments seem in denial over other Arabs committing genocide against non-arabs. <br><br>Grow up and accept the fact that there is genocide happening, rather than trying to deny reality. <br><br>Its quite disgusting, especially when some of the same people complain about genocide in Gaza to then deny genocide in Sudan

  Sir, as a Nigerian I am genuinely thankful that you are one of the few westerners/people who still bring attention to this tragic situation in Sudan. It&apos;s so infuriating how many westerners and Arrabs have just ignored or actually justified the horrible things atrocities going on here because it&apos;s a conflict between Africans and Arrabs😡
