  Sad to say, but even though the kpop industry has a lot of issues, they at least let members debut as a solo artist without breaking up the group. Western pop culture needs to adopt that.

  As for destiny's child, beyoncé was always going to be the center, especially with her father being the manager. However I think what makes beyoncé stand out from everyone else is her drive for something bigger, she has an immense amount of discipline and a crazy work ethic, even after she fired her dad she went on to reach entirely new levels of success. Not many artists manage to maintain such long lasting careers past a certain age in an industry that is so harsh to the women who aren't in their "prime" anymore, but beyoncé's willingness to evolve and improve as she gets older is exactly why she has always stood out not just from destiny's child but from other artists

  For Backstreet Boys, Nick Carter was supposed to be the Justin Timberlake of the group who wanted to go solo but he didn&apos;t seem to succeed on this. Which is why we still see the Backstreet Boys together for 30 years<br><br>A pop group or boyband breaks up once one of them wants to go solo or succeeds as a solo artist.

  The industry chose, promoted Harry relentlessly. He got massive radio play, ad placement, while the others, especially Louis, were shut down. Is his music better? Hell no. Louis, Zayn and Niall succeeded anyway with original, emotional music that have won solid, enduring followings. Harry is already peaking.

  I think it&apos;s really interesting to see how different this works in kpop, nowadays it&apos;s actually expected for a group&apos;s members to start a simultaneous solo career while still in the group a few years into the group career and the group almost always keeps going. The ones who proved it works are Taemin from SHINee and g-dragon, they were the first 2 idols to start a solo career while still active with their groups and they proved it could be done. SHINee is actually the best show case, all 5 members went solo while still in the group, and while Taemin is definitely the most successful soloist (one of the top soloists in kpop), all of them have successful solo careers, and despite that they still prioritize the group and have a group release every year along side a group concert. They hust celebrated their 18th year as a group and they are still going strong, even surviving a death of a group member, something that would destroy most groups. <br>I can&apos;t see a western pop group survive even half of that.

  BTS lasted for 13 years (and is still going on) due to their brotherhood and loyalty to each other, most groups break within 7-10 years and a lot of times it&apos;s because they prioritise their solo careers over the group career, or fight with each other, or become selfish and want fame for themselves so they abandon the group and go solo, but BTS resolves fights, always prioritise their group over their solo careers (they have said this multiple times even in interviews) and even when performing as solo artists they introduce themselves as a member of BTS.

  Most groups break within 7 years and one member becomes a solo star, yet BTS has been a group for 13 years, still active and all members have impeccable fame.
