  I’ve been in a similar situation where my work was taken for granted while others got rewarded. It taught me that loyalty should go both ways. If a company consistently undervalues you, sometimes the best move is to take your skills somewhere they’re appreciated.

  An aircraft components manufacturer where I worked as a quality engineer back in 1998 received a contract from Boeing in which a specific topcoat required thirteen hours to cure before further processing, The product specification stated that an elevated temperature of 250 F for one hour would reduce the time before further processing to five hours from thirteen. My company engaged an oven manufacturing company to build a drying oven priced at $40,000. I suggested an oven fabricated from materials already in our storage facility. I was directed to conduct a demo which I did using heat lamp, a homemade 27 cu ft enclosure, and a thermocouple fed process controller. The demo was successful. I designed an enclosure eight feet high and eighteen by twelve feet, having movable parts racks to trundle in and out of the enclosure through a set of double doors. The initial run of one hundred parts was successful. The total cost of the enclosure was somewhere around $8,000. I saved the company$32,000 and the paint shop manager took credit and was given a monetary award. I resigned a month later.

  The AI fingerprints get annoying after awhile. The contradictions, the plot slog, and the injected attempts at humor. This is maybe a 40 minute story with lots of filler.
