Dude, no wonder it was difficult... You didn't go straight to gannon, you went to bowser. Gannon is through the alternate secret exit path to world 8.

Nintendo saw so many people go straight to Calamity Ganon with nothing, so when they developed TOTK they were like "I dare you to try that in this game. I DARE you."

Tip: do not jump when exiting gloom. if you do jump you will keep on taking gloom damage until you hit the ground.
