Many of the homeless in LA are not actually from California. They travel here from all around the US. I would assume for the climate, along with government benefits. Many aren't interested in getting help

Born in Santa Barbara, walked to school through lemon groves, avocado orchards, walked to the beach, no adults needed, grew up in surfer culture, climbed the mountains, explored deserts, it couldn't have been a better scene for growing up. But this was in the 70s. When it really hits you that you can never, ever go back, it knocks the wind right out of you

Santa Monica is a tourist trap. For beaches near LA go to hermosa beach, manhattan beach, Newport Beach, Laguna beach. Much nicer. Still crowded but beautiful.

I grew up north of Santa Barbara and we went to Yosemite camping every summer. We heard the warnings about bears but it was understood they meant don’t leave food out it attracts the bears.

I’m a 75 y/o lifelong, born and bred Californian. California is stunningly beautiful. I will never leave. Politicians are trying their hardest to ruin it. I will fight for my beautiful state.

Don't know why the folks in the UK are homeless, but in the US, a lot of homeless people are either mentally ill, struggling with drugs or both.
