  The only thing is deer especially mature deer are super intelligent when it comes to scrapes. They do not put the same scent on licking branches as they do the actual scrape. The licking branches are the most important part of making mock scrapes. The deer will use the licking branches year around, the scrape might be used a few weeks out of the year. Forehead, salvatory, preorbital glands are the only scent deer put on licking branches.

  My wife and I have noticed that when we break branches off small trees and whips to get them out of the view of the camera, like baby white pines, tag alder, they almost always become a sort of &quot;scrape&quot; , I have years worth of videos where literally every deer that comes through rubs their face on a specific broken tree. &nbsp;We thought it was just a few deer being weird at first until it became too consistent to say anything other than these deer are scent marking here. Just found it interesting. &nbsp;By the way, these broken branches and baby trees are not up like a licking branch, they are low enough the deer lower their heads to rub their face and foreheads all over it.

  I’ve made mock scrapes for years now, I actually urinate in the scrape as well! I have bucks sniffing around and scraping it that same evening!

  Love seeing new products you tend to show like today&apos;s show..that rope scrape, I can&apos;t do because at 5:30 am when I&apos;m walking to the stand in dark that rope will look just like a snake and probably crepe me out..I&apos;ve learned and researched. deer love to use cedar branches.<br>I use them exclusively for mock scrape.they hammer mine..
