Alina didn't even try to understand him...she just decided she suffered more than him which is impossible in the first place....now Alina will take his place and years later she will finally understand him and his actions but it'll be too late

He is a villian and he is too good of a charasmatic villian to be truly gone 😢 A tragic character who keeps the story moving, who challenges our morals.
I will miss him and I still hope we'll see more of him.

A very complex character who was more comprehensible in the books, indeed i think his development was rushed in the serie and peoples couldn't entirely understand how deeply he was ruined. He lived a thousand years and as many traumatic children become himself a persecutor. Every villain has a reason to be the way they are. I think he understood that sometimes violence is the only solution to be safe. Alina is very young and maybe a little naive, she will have to face many issues now that the fold who was the "main" problem of the continent is gone.

After an amazing first season, the writers butchered the story and these characters in season two, but Ben Barnes still showed everyone how to make the best of any scene. RIP Darkling. RIP Darklina. You deserved better.

Im sad. He truly deserved more care in the show. He's a deeply flawed person but has so much trauma. No one could ever understand him

The Best Character in the series will be dearly missed.
This video really shows his tragic tale beautifully.

Now maybe he can be resurrected again & actually have loyal allies too. It would be a fantastic idea. Also, there's still The Cult Of The Starless Saint & many grisha realistically would want him back.

I watch this one often. I must say, you captured the Darkling's essence so well. I find myself often rewatching this video and focusing on the story from 2:42 onwards. The conversations and monologues tied with the music so well. And towards the end as you blend The Darkling's desires to be close to Alina and then snap the sword and his dreams forever snap into reality - on his back, bleeding out and staring at a blue sky with his "Little Saint." Oh. The knot in my stomach wrings and pains me still. Thank you for making this. Truly.
