I enjoy your presentations sir, excellent story teller and tell it like it is - that's awesome. I'm a Canadian settled in Koh Samui, solo on retirement .... just week 3 now and retirement visa approved total 14 more month and then plan to renew annually ... i found a perfect little bungalow accommodation that is so steeped in nature just the sounds alone are healing not to mention 3 baby owls in the bamboo tree inches off my outdoor patio - to me that's a better life than battling inflation in Vancouver .... gave up on that and haven't looked back.

The latter part of your report was spot on. I'm impressed. Jomtien is a large part of my long visits to Thailand (2 months/3 months twice per year) for the last 20 years. I live in my own condo in Pattaya and I always will. Thanks again for putting a structure to what I nearly know.

Nicely done ! Very thought provoking and philosophical view about Jomtien which, as you rightly point out, is all about choices and finding the happy medium and balance.

The retirement question “ who are you when your working life stops” is the universal question where ever you live and if you cannot adjust to a new chapter of not being anyone important, decision maker, part of a working team of colleagues then wherever you live loneliness or a bar stool are easy but not the answer , changing mind set is hard enough but changing geography country and culture and then asking the “who am I “ question is a lot to compute . Stay in this day , this new reality , today this day , where am I , “safe “, where are the kids , “safe” , then let’s enjoy this day
