My first exposure was 23years ago on a flight from Dakar. Right after take off the pilot announced a fuel stop in Cape Verde. We all pulled out maps to see where this was. Sadly we couldnt leave the aircraft. I had never heard of the islands.

We (my Family) were Blessed to travel to Santiago and spend 8 days in Praia! Besides the fulfillment of returning to where my Grandfather (Joao Varella) was from, it felt awesome to see where our roots originated.

Amazing to see we all share the same rich African culture in the Caribbean from the food carnival and the creole language it's absolutely marvelous our African heritage lived within us no matter where we located in the diaspora
