Enjoyed that - As a geologist and a bird watcher I can see Hatzegopteryx"s traits in several of Africa's savannah birds . The Marabou Stork is a terrifying sight at first, it looks like a primitive throwback but I watched a young mongoose walk too close .... and the look of fear as Hatze struck!!! Luckily for him its family came quickly to the rescue and 10 or so began biting both feet and legs. The stork had enough and dropped the young one and though bruised and battered by the Marabou's beak pressure was able to scamper away, so not all hunts are successful. If you have ever watched a large heron hunting, they use the same stabbing or spearing technique to catch fish & frogs and the Night Heron has one of those expandable throats able to take a very large rat. And the Hammerhead Stork's head is shaped like an ice-axe to be fast enough to catch a scampering lizard. Luckily there's been no progress on quad flight evolution yet

Prehistoric creatures are proof that life is much older and more complicated than we give it credit for. Truly fascinating!

Love how the fish it swallows comes out of the back of its neck!

the research behind prehistoric creatures is honestly just as exciting as the creatures themselves

Island dwarfism and island gigantism happening at the same time on the same island feels like nature experimenting without supervision.

I’ve been a fan of dinosaurs for 50 years, and it boggles the mind how much we’ve discovered about them in that time!😊😮

Imagining that hammer strike instead of a bite makes it feel even more brutal. Blunt force trauma from a beak is not something I expected from a pterosaur.

Prehistoric creatures were truly magnificent. I feel like we’re still just scratching the surface of understanding their world

Every time I learn about prehistoric creatures, I get a sense of wonder about Earth’s distant past. They were truly the kings and queens of their time

Maybe these creatures could take off from flat ground but I think it's more likely that they stayed close to cliffs where they could easily launch themselves into flight.

I appreciate how this didn’t turn into pure monster hype. The physics breakdown actually made the whole thing more believable.
