Casino Workers Speak Out: "Vegas is DEAD, Silent Layoffs, Dirty Rooms & $9 Beer"

For most of the last century Vegas had a good thing going. They had a steady flow of gambling winnings from huge numbers of vacationers who visited Vegas. Then the big corporations took over. Someone got the idea to increase the profit margin by taking away all of the incentives that the public had for going to Vegas: free drinks, inexpensive hotels, free parking, affordable shows, acceptable house edges on gambling games, low table limits. So what happened? The public stays away. Vegas brought it on itself. RIP Las Vegas. It was good while it lasted.

Going to Vegas is no longer fun place. All Casinos should eliminate parking fees, resort fees, and reduce room rates and food. This will bring back the crowds and build up their business...

People are catching on that they can get the same LOUSY slot payouts at local casinos without flying 4000-6000 miles round trip. Plus free parking and the same rules, if not better, at blackjack, roulette, craps and baccarat.

Went about 5 times about 25 years ago and said I will go more often once I retired. Now retired but have no interest in Vegas.

I remember the beginning of the computer spread sheets downsizing the work force. This isn't anywhere near new. Computers came on the business scene back in the 70's and 80's. In my case they were finding out that the full-time workers out numbered the part-time workers. I was hired off the street as full time before they got computer wise and then you were lucky to get hired as full time and soon part timers outnumbered full timers. I was also lucky that the company has a pension plan, and after 36 years full time and 76 years old, they give me a pension. I started as a gas station attendant. Gas was under $1 gallon. And of course you know, gas station attendants today are very rare. Oh, the name of the company? Basic retail and services, it is AAFES.

Was there downtown Las Vegas, in August 2026, Wednesday and Thursday…was so empty…a bit scary..hardly anyone..
But Friday, Saturday was full, crowded…lines to most restaurants..
Las Vegas forgot their best customers were the everyday day, hardworking people…who kept Las Vegas alive!

40+ times out there, 26 years in a row for the Superbowl and the luster has finally worn off. It's certainly not because we can't afford it, we can. What hit home for us is that we went to the Yardbird in the Venetian one year and the cost was affordable, went the following year and after receiving the bill I called the manager over to discuss with him if there was mistake. There wasn't. This will be the 3rd year of not going and I have no idea when if ever we might go back.

There greed has gone to far last time I came it was 20 bucks a day for parking i stayed five days so 100$ on top of resort fees was 250$ then paying for the hotel and food would add another 700$ that brings me to 950$ before i even put a dollar into the slot machine flight and car rental does not make the trip worth it

Casinos are totally shutting down an entire floor in a major Casino for people to rent rooms because of the lack of visitors and they're laying off housekeepers because some of the floors are shut off to the public and not being used
