  I wish we, largely as a group, met these “moments“ with curiosity rather than reactivity and assumption… it says the stage for dialogue and learning rather than alienation, shame and anger.

  When I was in high school, I had a classmate who was black and japanese which was surprising back then. But in college every asian girl I saw had a white boyfriend including my roommate from hong kong.

  Have been hearing the term Blasian since the 90s, Wasian is a newer term for me, but make sense that they're here too.

  He does raise a really good point. Wasian men are definitely being cast as romantic leads. And that connects to Western beauty standards. While full Asian men are cast as action leads, because they have build a credibility in those roles.  I think the last time I saw a full Asian man as a romantic lead in a big movie featuring an interracial couple was Jet Li in Romeo Must Die.

  I love AI storytelling and web series that representative. Especially “AMBW” that does not center whiteness and deals with stereotypes that you don’t see in regular media. AI, socials and meet ups are helping us to connect. Thank you for this segment.

  Great coverage, but it's simply incorrect to say that "Asian Americans as a group are over-indexed in wealth and education." That's to perpetuate the model minority myth. Look closely and you will find deep disparities within the group with many facing serious economic precarity.  In fact, income inequality is wider among Asian Americans than any other major racial or ethnic group in the United States.

  @<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fByMvBVUfsE&amp;t=77">1:17</a> I&apos;ve heard the term Wasian for decades now. Probably started hearing it and using it in the early to mid 2000s. Keanu Reeves and Phoebe Cates are Wasians -- so this has been a discussion for a long time.

  The Asian representation (Wasian) Hollywood appears to be increasingly comfortable with reminds me of their preference for light-skinned or Blacks with more European influenced phenotypes.

  Great interview and discussion! Let’s put energies and resources into building solidarity across communities to mutual aid and to resist ongoing exploitation and human rights abuses impacting our most vulnerable members of society, for future generations and to honor our ancestors who fought hard for freedom. Speaking as a third generation Chinese American - racism, misogyny and xenophobia has never gone away … so we all need to wake up and not just let our freedoms and humanity be taken from us. Again.
