Here in Canada we earn less than US and pay a lot as in Brasil. <br>Planning moving to Nova Petropolis-RS soon.

My family has dual citizenship and we plan to sell our US home and move to Brazil in the next year. I miss going to grocery store and just buying what we like to eat without budgeting our way out of our favorites. I miss not considering the price of a needed MRI or vet bill.

I live in Itacaré, Bahia. But I'm originally from Santa Catarina (Garopaba). Here in Itacaré, everything is very peaceful; there are no house robberies, no car thefts, and the community is very welcoming. We have many problems, but violence isn't one of them.

There's a gringo living here in Fortaleza, and he encourages other Americans to come. He argues that the $6,000 a month he makes working online for an US company wouldn't be much there, but here he lives very well, saying he has more than half his salary left over each month.

I moved to boston when I was 9 years old and I have been living in the USA for 30 years we decided to ditch the cold winters of boston and we moved to orlando this year. A family member decided to move to Maringá PR instead of Florida bc he would be richer there. His income is about $20,000 US dollars monthly. Needless to say he lives a wonderful life in Brazil and saves more than half of his salary each month!

I would probably be middle class in US. In Brazil I work only two to three hours per day. I can afford tennis, jiujitsu and fitness privates regularly and I travel internationally twice a year (20 days each). I rejected a few opportunities to move to US even though the salary would be higher because I would have to work more and would have less time for my hobbies and fitness…

For taxes, though, don’t forget if you are a US citizen, there is double taxation since there’s no tax treaty between the US and Brazil, so your income taxes will be higher having to pay both to some degree

To be more practical, this needs to be assessed in terms of where in each country the other is likely to live. So the comp should be (for example) Rio and San Paulo against NYC, LA, DC, Chicago, etc.

The middle class in the US is struggling. The cost of everything has gone up and housing has more than tripled in price over the past 15yrs, while incomes remain the same. People can’t afford to buy a house anymore and millions of people are living in their cars.
