How ridiculous. No fiancé can trade, sell or otherwise exchange the womanhes engaged to . Only way to break the betrothal is for him to cry off, which would, consequently, damage his social standing.

Great story but..... She was initially assigned to the east wing with the west wing locked. Now she is in the west wing and he in the east. A good story can trip itself up with odd and conflicting information.

A riding habit is exactly what a woman would wear out onto the moors or into the muddy farms. It’s also what one wears to travel, make calls in the country, and often, to get married. It’s usually the best dress a lady had, and the dirt sponged off of the high quality wool they used then.
