  My old roommate was from Fall River and I visited her before COVID. We did the Lizzie Borden house tour. The house really makes you understand how irritating living there with her father would have been. The house was originally made to be sectioned off for mutiunit tenants. Because of this, all the upstairs bedrooms were connected to each other as they were not originally bedrooms. The rooms were common rooms with shared doors and meant to be walked through. Because of this Lizzie&apos;s room and her father&apos;s room were connected by a door. Emma&apos;s room is off to the side, but she still has to go through everyone&apos;s rooms to get to the staircase. Add some personal animosity or resentment and you already have a house made to irritate.<br>If Andrew had just spent the effort to put the girls out in society and supported their marriage prospects they wouldn&apos;t have had to live like that. The girls would have been less isolated as well.

  I always assumed Lizzie Borden was guilty, based on the various videos &amp; shows that I&apos;ve seen...but NONE of these shows went into detail and never covered the Defense arguments and ALL of them operated under the assumption that Lizzie was guilty. Its scary how supposedly professional shows (long ago) could taint opinions and only show one side. This video is the very first time I&apos;ve even heard ALL the details, which gives the impression that Lizzie was innocent. She could have maybe hired someone to do the deed, but I can&apos;t see how she did them herself. I wish ALL shows were as thorough &amp; objective as this show.

  Very worth emphasizing, Lizzie was immediately deemed &quot;hysterical&quot; by the cops and doctors on scene and given the standard remedy for the time. Morphine. She was kept on a prescription of morphine for the entire trial so any and all of her contradictory statements are pretty understandable if not out right forgiveable.

  My high-school biology teacher was a distant relative of Lizzie Borden, and when introducing herself on the first day of school she would recite the nursery rhyme and shake the life-sized skeleton she had at the front of the room. She was honestly a really nice person though and I feel like students could have been a lot nicer to her.

  While studying law to become a Legal Assistant, we reviewed this particular case. &nbsp;It was, under examining through the eyes of an investigator (for attorneys) and my background of 24 years as a police officer, one of the worst investigated murders we ever examined. &nbsp;The police were basically untrained night watchmen who&apos;s duties &nbsp;were to watch for fires in the town and haul in drunks when they disturbed the local citizens. &nbsp;They allowed anyone who was curious to walk through the house and view the bodies, there was no real measurements taken of the scene, no good photographs, however they did allow a photographer to bring his camera in the house and photograph the scene so he could give them copies, and make copies for sale to the morbidly curious citizens of the town. &nbsp;They did write us basic reports but they were pretty much worthless because what would be considered evidence was missing from the general reports, just basic observations with no real attempt to retain a good overview of the situation. &nbsp;Had any of my officers turned in reports like those when I served as Chief of Police, they would surly have been fired as dead weight, of course back then they had no training as todays officer receive even in the basic police academy training give officers who are hired off the street today.

  I didn’t hear a mention of the bucket of bloody rags found in the basement. &nbsp;Some think it points to Lizzie’s guilt, but it was menstrual rags according to Lizzie. &nbsp;A doctor even confirmed the day of the murders that Lizzie was on her period, so there was a reason for the bloody rags to be in the basement.

  The reason it was a big deal that they didn&apos;t call Abby &quot;mother&quot; was because back then calling your stepmom &quot;mother&quot; was expected. It was a huge insult if you didn&apos;t, which is why everyone noticed. It was a big deal 😊
