Y did this job more then 5 years ago on my whirlpool, it still run smooth. Good quality bearings, good seal ring, a little siliconic vaseline in it to keep it elastic and hi-temp resistant silicone. The worst part is to cut the drum in a straight line and angle, it takes a while

Then you have to replace the spider in a couple of months. Well done. 2-4 hour fix each time, great. Don"t forget where it is ( in a closet ) typically

I have done it, here are two important tips : drill holes before you cut the casing. Make sure to put alot of silicone and that the holes are outside of the silicone. Really put alot, even if you get access silicone dripping out.

You can use the old bearing to drive in the new one and clean the shaft a little with emery cloth before inserting 👍🏻

Same as my drum on washer dryer from Currys 5 years ago warranty just finished too 😂😂

My drum had lots of slop but the bearings were ok. The plastic bearing seats on the drum had worn larger than the bearing. Reckon it had spun, a lot.

It's safer to use Nyloc nuts to secure the shell when doing the reassembly, and you are better off with extra nuts so I'd go down to 4mm or 3mm holes at no more than 75mm spacing with bolts and nylocs. The silicone itself won't really bond to the shell, it is only acting as a gasket, the nuts and bolts do the work. I've also seen someone use a heap of plastite screws at 25mm spacing but I'd be nervous about that failing.
