  Been there, done that, so this video is about 20 years late.<br><br>Neighbors oak tree, in the middle of his yard fell over in the middle of a tropical storm. I would have never seen the issues the tree had unless I trespassed onto his property.<br><br>The tree hit my fence, deck and house punching a large hole in the roof. The large branch that punched the hole in the roof, struck some trusses, came through the kitchen ceiling, brought down the ceiling fan, microwave and a couple of wall cabinets.<br><br>My insurance company was piss poor to say the least. The adjuster sent in from out of town tried low balling the repair price. Even the temporary roof repair company did a poor job causing more damage.<br><br>The first estimate was under $20,000. Final cost was over $45,000, which I received only after hiring an attorney.<br>close to half of the tree removal cost shown <br>The certified arborist is a must. When sending certified mail, you also need to send your insurance company a copy of the report. Having a property survey performed will cost almost as much as the tree removal. <br><br>All in, I&apos;d rather of had the house burn to the ground, take the insured value and purchase somewhere else. I was out of pocket almost $5k in expenses eating out, since I no longer had a kitchen, the additional cost of residing the two other sides of the house so they matched. Oh, and my insurance company paid the entire bill for the tree removal including the remains from the neighbors yard.

  I had a couple of trees on my property that my nabors were concerned about, thay simply asked me if they could have them cut down I have a sizable amount of property so I simply told them if there&apos;s any tree&apos;s on my property that they feel are a threat of damaging their property or safety they are welcomed to have them cut down, and that statement stands as long as they live there.

  My neighbor refused to take out a dead apple tree. &nbsp;I asked several times over a couple of years. &nbsp;<br>During a wind storm the tree fell and torn down my gutter. Luckily that was it. &nbsp; She offered to pay for the gutter replacement.

  I pay extra for tree damage insurance. It&apos;s an extra $25/month but I get peace of mind.

  Write a letter and photos to their insurance company on a dead tree beforehand to notify all parties.

  This isn&apos;t true in Florida. Florida legislators passed a &apos;Fallen Tree Act&apos;. If a tree &nbsp;causes damage to someone else&apos;s property the owner of the property where the tree is from is liable. If a property owner thinks a tree can damage their property they must notify the &apos;tree owner&apos; in writing. Tree damage liability may be different in other states.

  We had a large tree that was dying right on the property line. Our neighbor and my husband paid a tree company, off the tree company’s time, to trim it half way. We each took turns cutting the rest of the tree and hauling up the big chunks to the tree.
