This hobby is now mfers selling to mfers selling to mfers to eventually get some guy at a card expo overpaying just because they're there and feeling it's a waste of time to leave empty handed. But hey they give kids free $2 cards on tik tok so it's all ok in the end. Another hobby/interest taken over by unending greed and hustle culture.

The JP card scene is completely cooked. I have local vendors doing vendoring on sat-sun then flying off to Japan from Mon-thurs to sweep all the card shops then back to vendoring on sat-sun. With people like these its impossible to have a fun time hunting in Japanese card stores.

vendors are just scalpers with a different label. the fact that they are thinking they provide some noble service and not in it for the money is laughable.

People advertising these stores with social media and arbitrage opportunities, of course everything will be picked through

Im currently in Osaka and the situation is worse now. Most genuine collectors are priced out of the hobby. If you’re planning for a trip to Japan solely to hunt for deals, i’d advise to reconsider. Many of the cards in stores are priced above the online market.

But hey, the choice is yours.
God bless the hobby.

I found the best deals in stores you had to take an elevator to with no English signage.

The editing is so good. Knowledge and experience in the Japanese market is unmatched. Great video, Jluv

Im in Japan at the moment on holiday. Last time I was in Japan was 2018 and I can see the difference with how many card shops there are now. Its crazy how different it is

Man it’s crazy how big the hobby has gotten. 😮 and sadly how bad the violence has been

This is so true. I came card shopping around the same dates as you and noticed the exact same thing.

One thing the video didn’t really highlight — and honestly might be even more important than the disgusting resellers and vendors — is that shops themselves are sending huge amounts to PSA. I’ve seen way more slabs in 2026 than in previous years, which obviously means finding PSA10 candidates is getting really hard. And because of that, stores are dumping lower‑quality cards into the display cases, and as people (including me) keep buying them, they just keep jacking the prices up.

I still found a “deal”, but it’s tricky… and it’s definitely way more expensive than two years ago 😢

Fun fact about the tulip crisis that I saw during the watch price explosion: the peak is reached when there are far more transactions between middlemen than final customers.
