If you look very carefully, you'll see that a side view of a TIE Fighter looks just like the CIS/Separatist logo.

Palpatine's subtle way of trolling everyone I suspect.

My favorite TIE will always be the intercepter.

There's actually 2 types of First Order TIE Fighters:

1. Thr standard TIE has just the forward facing laser cannons, but it has shields and a limited hyperdrive.

2. The Special Forces TIE has front and rear cannons,a much greater weapons selection (blasters, missiles, and mag pulses for starters), stronger shields than a standard TIE Fighter, and a stronger hyperdrive.

They did it to put a greater emphasis on pilot survival as the First Order had nowhere near the resources the Empire had

The iconic TIE fighter screech will always be my favorite Star Wars sound effect

Small correction: The clip you used for the First Order TIE with Finn and Poe is actually a separate TIE variant called the TIE SF (Special Forces).

That one has the 2-person cockpit that the regular First Order TIE doesn’t have. You can distinguish it from the regular First Order TIE by the antenna on the cockpit and two big mechanical wheel-like structures where the pylons meet the wings. It also has a red marking on the cockpit.

The TIE Auto-Fighter is actually the TIE Droid, a TIE Fighter controlled by a Droid Brain.

Disclaimer, the First Order TIE (TIE FO) isn't the one Poe and Finn escaped with. The TIE FO is like said equiped with shields and life support but that's it. The TIE the duo escaped with is a TIE meant for the First Order special forces, the TIE SF, it is this one equiped with rear gun, shields, life support but also a hyperdrive, allowing to travel or track down a target without the need of a Star Destroyer. Even the pilots who flew this model had a different helmet than regular First Order pilot, with a red stripe on it.

16:34 looks like something I would make with my Lego sets just smashing the wings on other vehicles

0:59 The lack of these things was also approved (iirc by Tarkin) as a way to limit/discourage defection. Decided you’ve had enough, gonna steal a TIE and fly away? Good for you, now you’re flying something that can be destroyed in one shot by turrets, has no hyperdrive or extended life support to get you to a safer star system, and no way to safely land the ship other than to bring it to another Imperial facility/hangar
