George R.R. Martin Isn't the Problem

  The amount of people taking the vid as “he’s literally telling the story of Martin” instead of a representative story broadly speaking about what happens to a lot of artist who get bigger is concerning. Y’all, Martin didn’t write Dragon Fart. You did! This is just an exercise in trying to wear someone else's shoes. I wanted to walk people through how success CAN be amazing, but also incredibly disruptive. It WILL change you as a person. The world is not black and white. That being said on the other side of things, some people are taking it too far and claiming you can never poke fun at the situation or critique Martin for not delivering. NO. People talk about the internet making people think in black and white but it also makes people think declaratively. I was not decrying people on any side of the argument or trying to take a stand. I was ONLY trying to bring perspective to what a similar circumstance must be like to experience as a human as Martin's recent blog post deeply humanized him to me in terms of him speaking on life kinda coming to a close. Thank you for listening to me rant.

  Obviously, decades are long and fans grow weary - but the predominant issue seems more to me as though it&apos;s brought about by perceived dishonesty.<br><br>When you ask &quot;Where is the next book&quot; it&apos;s one thing to hear:<br>&quot;I&apos;ve been busy. It&apos;s not going how I wanted it to. I needed a break. I&apos;m still working on it, but it&apos;s taking a lot out of me&quot;<br>And a totally different thing to hear:<br>&quot;I have 2,000 pages written. It&apos;ll be done in a year. You have permission to imprison me if it&apos;s not done by then&quot;<br><br>Over the years I&apos;ve read probably hundreds of comments saying: &quot;Can he just be honest and say it&apos;s not coming any time soon? Can he just say if he&apos;s too tired to work on it?&quot;<br><br>I think the frustration is brought about by Martin&apos;s own inability to perceive his own limits and capabilities. Not just the schedule.
