  Whether you are in the South and want to be prepared for hurricanes or in the North and want to be prepared for Winter storms, in my opinion, everyone should consider a backup power source for their home.  Do you have a backup power solution?  If so, what are you using?

  I have appreciated your channel for quite some time. I agree with the technical details on how you install the plug and the interlock. However, you did not discuss a modification that needs to be made to the generator before you plug it into the receptacle. If you’re using a typical breaker interlock that switches only the two hot legs and leaves the neutral continuously connected to the main panel, the generator neutral should generally be isolated (“floating”) from the generator frame/ground. In your case, Typical main-panel interlock, neutral not switched:<br>Generator neutral → house neutral bar → service neutral-to-ground bonded. The generator neutral should NOT be bonded to its frame. This keeps one neutral-ground bond, at the service. If you have a bonded-neutral generator connected through a non-switching interlock, you can create two neutral-ground bonds:<br><br>Generator neutral ↔ generator frame/ground<br>and<br>House neutral ↔ ground at service<br><br>That allows normal neutral current to flow partly on the equipment-grounding conductor, which is an unsafe/incorrect configuration and can also cause GFCI problems. Important: Don&apos;t simply remove a factory neutral bond without checking the generator&apos;s manual. Some portable generators use a bonded neutral as part of their GFCI/listing configuration, and manufacturers may specify a particular procedure or configuration for proper connection to a building service.

  Another thing to consider if you are using a backfed generator breaker instead of a transfer switch is that you should unbond the neutral from the ground on the generator so you don&apos;t have current being carried on the ground wire between the generator and the home. &nbsp;You should also note on the generator that it has a floating neutral.

  Hi, is it okay to add inlet box to the main panel and sub panel? I have a sub panel outside and the main panel is in my garage. &nbsp;I&apos;m planning to use the sub panel for my generator in case I need it. The main panel is in my garage I planning to use for my ecoflow when needed.
