Why I sold my Rolex and wear a Casio F-91W Now

I work in surgery (nurse assist not doctor lol) and because of that I've noticed something funny. The general staff parking lot is filled with very expensive cars, the doctors parking lot is filled with maybe 2 cars normal people would consider out of the ordinary and dozens of 10+ year old super normal cars. Even 1 that is physically duct taped together by a doctor who takes pride in keeping his car from school running by himself. That taught me the same lesson you are explaining here. Great video

Have 2 Rolexes. One I inherited from my dad. It reminds me of him because he wore it everyday. Yes it’s impractical, but it makes me smile. Life is short.

I remember when I purchased a watch that I’d wanted for many years. Its cost had given me pause, but finally, to celebrate a job promotion, I decided it was time.

Not long after I bought it, I looked at its black strap and thought, “I should have another one, but with a gold case and brown strap, to go better with other outfits.” And not long after that, I told myself I needed a sportier one with a metal bracelet that was 3x as expensive as the first one.

I realized I was caught in a consumptive pattern. I obviously didn’t need the watches. The desire to acquire was signaling that something deeper within me needed attention. I understand now that we don’t have to act on that kind of desire when it comes; we can hear it for the signal that it is and be grateful for the reminder to bring our attention to something more important.

In any case, you shouldn't do or buy anything for status. You do or buy something for yourself because YOU derive pleasure from it. Who cares what anyone else thinks about it!

Thank you for this video — it really resonated with me. I'm a Head of Legal for a small city in Europe and have had my own share of "success" in life, but I've come to measure it through a healthy, happy family, positive relationships with people, and the value I try to add to society through my work. Watching you go through the whole cycle confirmed something I'd already started to feel. A watch like that would actually undermine what success means to me, not represent it. Really appreciate you sharing this honestly.

Makes sense❤, simplicity, engineering and it eliminates the ego of owning luxury, validation from society

I just recently started to get into watches as well learn about them. i also happen to be an enthusiast for cars too and a thing i resonate with this when i bought one of my childhood attainable cars i felt really happy and still do this day but i started to get stressed cosemtically for it and almost at one point where i wouldnt want to drive due to being what if someone scuffs me or what if i start getting chipstones etc. but now it has showed me to enjoy it more and let things go rather than be fixated and with watches i moved to a casio duro which is remarkly so good at everything despite not being "expensive" because i didnt wanna make the same mistakes like my car of worrying about everything cosemtically. That is why it is better to learn to be content and wary for any purchases you make that is considerable amount, than live in a continous cycle of dread.

Revenue tells you how good you are at sales. Net profit tells you how good you are at business.

I bought my mother a blue F-91W and I wear the classic black one. She recently went through stomach surgery, and it reminded me that health and the people we love matter far more than expensive possessions. Somehow these simple little Casios mean a lot to me now.
❤

Love channels and individuals like this. I bought a Rolex last year to celebrate a major personal achievement, but I’ve barely worn it. At first, it was just the constant fear of scratching or banging it. But on the very first day I bought it, there was a guy I’m 99% sure was stalking me, staring at my wrist until I finally confronted him and he took off. Then just this past weekend, I had a complete realization of how absurd the whole "Rolex game" really is. I walked into an authorized boutique in Orlando, Florida, and the sales rep literally told me I couldn't purchase a watch because I wasn't a local, suggesting I go to my local shop instead. Then they had the nerve to say I could still "try on" pieces if I wanted to. I completely declined playing dress-up for something I’m not even allowed to buy. That was the moment it clicked: the entire game is complete BS, and I’m done with it. Being me and happy with who I’am is what matters the most.

I have some other watches from other brands and Casio watches in my collection but the F91W gets the most wrist time, it’s just so versatile, a chronograph, can display 24h or Am/Pm and has an alarm, survives swimming and it’s just so conveniently light weight. As well as under 20$ if it breaks
