  It happened this way in my former church. I was dating a man who was a good man by standards of the church. He was polite to the seniors there who thought he was great. I believed he was nice. He often articulated his beliefs and community values. However he Jekyll &amp; Hyde flipped and became verbally emotionally abusive. I stated that I don’t believe he believed in those values. He laughed gouhlishly and admitted he lied. I am fortunate that we never married. I’m in a new church that does not systematically exalt such men.

  The delusional stuff is something i have felt is a very unique thing some of us go through and its really refreshing to hear it spoken about. Becauae its very draining to be in a relationship with someone like that. There is narcissism, and then there is delusions, psychosis, and paranoia. <br><br>Some examples. My husband is convinced i&apos;m abusive when he used to be abusive and is still toxic. Hes convinced we are both equally bad when we arent. He believes whole heartedly I regularly make comments about his weight, even so much as telling me I get up in the morning and go up to him and poke his belly and tell him his stomach is poking out more than average and that I regularly call him fat. Meanwhile in reality, i used to get frustrated how hed never take his shirt off around me even after 12 years of being together and cant even tell when hes gained 20 lbs. Im very big on the body positivity movement too. <br><br>He also thinks i call him names, randomly starts to think his kids who obviously are his arent his, despite the fact we both work from home and they look like him. Will start to believe things about me and then project them on me when hes insecure even if the &quot;facts&quot; have no backing. etc. Everytime we get in a fight, he somehow manipulates his own brain to believe he didnt say hurtful things he said and that i start all the arguments. He literally rewrites arguments, and since he believes them, will believe he is being abused if i ask for accountability. He thinks i manipulat ehim all the time when i dont and even when manipulation makes no sense in most of the contexts.<br><br>I thought for a long time he did these things on purpose, but too many times he seemed to genuinely believe them and sonit always confused me. I thought maybe it was crazy making. He was diagnosed with cptsd and scizoeffective disorder this year. I feel for him and hes trying to fix himself but idk how much longer i can do it. Being in charge of his mental health and trying not to view him poorly despite how much his disorder has caused him to hurt me often feels like torture and isnt good for either of us because his insecurity in our relationship fuels his paranoia. Im so sorry for anyone else in this predicament, especially if you guys have children like me.
