  This landed. I’ve seen this as I’ve applied the Pomodoro Technique. I always come back to Lincoln&apos;s line about spending four of six hours sharpening the axe. We&apos;re afraid to stop and sharpen because sharpening produces zero chips out of the tree — so we default to what I call &quot;handle hacking&quot;: swinging with more and more effort, getting more and more exhausted, never realizing the dull blade is just bouncing off the wood. And because we never stopped to care for it, the head works itself loose, until one overexerted backswing sends it flying and we&apos;re left holding nothing but the handle. Unlike Lincoln, I tend to swing all six hours. This is such a great reminder. <br>Rest isn&apos;t the reward for hard work — rest is the four hours it takes to sufficiently sharpen your blade.

  I was here for this in person. Everytime that I listen to this man speak I know that he receives his message from God. Elder Kearon, thank you for being such a good example of Christ. You have blessed my life so much!❤️

  While sitting in this devotional, I was thinking, This is almost surreal. This topic is hardly ever addressed in church talks, and I felt like he included it just for me. Both my husband and I watched it again tonight, just to assure ourselves that we really did hear this special message. Tonight, we are putting our feet up with less worry about what we aren’t finishing on our list and watching this devotional again. The purpose of slowing down isn’t simply to get more rest or accomplish less—it’s to create space to focus more fully on the Savior and what He wants us to learn and become.

  As one who suffers from toxic perfectionism and finds slowing down and resting almost impossible - this really hit me hard. And I&apos;m not young enough to maintain the pressure I put on myself. This beautiful, powerful and delightful devotional ( who can help but love that wonderful free laugh that comes straight from the heart), has motivated me to try harder to listen to my body and take time to rest Thank you Elder Kearon - you always make me see things in a more positive way, something I really need.🙏🏻

  We were in the Bristol Southmead ward when our stake president - now an apostle - was released . I saw tears around me and could feel how much love everyone had for Patrick Keaton and his wife.<br><br>What I really like is that he can share the gospel in a calm, witty and yet deep manner without pretence or judgement. <br><br>He is there with you leading the way simply and realistically - his advice is great not only for twenty year old super achievers but also for those over fifty who still have not learned to live in the moment. <br><br>You taught us that stopping to enjoy a feather or nature it’s important and that our best is always enough and that is a great message! Thank you elder Kearon!

  In the age of AI and the constant obsession with optimization, efficiency, and increased pace, this may be one of the most important talks of our era. I am so grateful to Elder Kearon for reminding us that the spirit resides in stillness, and that when pursuing perfection, we should take our time. Thank you, Elder Kearon.

  I have a feeling that President Holland lives in this man, Elder Patrick Kearon. The way he articulates his words and makes his points clearly remind me of my late favorite Apostle, Jeffrey R. Holland.

  I’ve long been bothered the way Martha has been portrayed. It’s her home and she’s busy making sure her guests eat. Including Jesus. Just because Mary chose that “good part” that will not be taken from her ,<br>does not mean that Martha chose the bad part. <br>So very grateful for perspective from Elder Kearon. <br>Someone had to tend to the duties. In our vernacular someone had to pay the rent , go to Smiths and cook the food. <br>Elder Kearon says to find the peace in our “ real lives.” <br>and …..I agree. It takes effort.

  So many gems… This 1915 quote spoke to me most powerfully:<br><br>&quot;Above all, trust in the slow work of God.<br>Only God could say what this new spirit gradually forming within you will be.<br>Give our Lord the benefit of believing that his hand is leading you, and accept the anxiety of feeling yourself in suspense and incomplete. <br><br>What a powerful reminder to persist in patient trust and never lose hope or quit !
