  I raise chickens for eggs and just recently started raising mealworms for my hens. I independently was considering keeping each lifecycle stage in its own container, but realizing that I am prone to reinvent the wheel, I have been searching for confirmation.  THIS video is that conformation.  Thank you so much!   Great tips!<br>I get my larvae from a pet supply or fishing supply store. I&apos;ve raised them in a large glass vase as well as smaller plastic food containers. <br>Super easy and the birds really appreciate it!!

  I was listening while working doing other things, but when I looked up, I only saw the one container. I have seen the simple approach where like a 50 gallon fish tank which I used to have worked pretty good if you kept it really deep with the oatmeal or whatever they were living in and they had enough space and if they had enough food, they would not go completely cannibal. &nbsp;I one time almost decided to go that route just to make it easier, but I have too much fun sorting and playing with them and always remember the wind when you’re shifting so that France doesn’t get back in your face. &nbsp;I’ve seen some other good videos where somebody did them indoors, but they had a door or a window close by and they put a fan right there blowing straight out and they would sift and then all of that casings and stuff would just go straight out the window instead of in your face. &nbsp; <br><br>I should make a video lol. &nbsp;I’ve never done that. I don’t even know where to begin. &nbsp;Happy worm farming. &nbsp;Very calming thing. &nbsp;And if you thaw chickens like their scratch. As we call it chicken crack. &nbsp;Mealworms are the cracks, happier, cousin. Chicken Coke. lol. &nbsp;And it’s better for them. &nbsp;lol. &nbsp;Here in Mojave Desert. I’m raising them for my roadrunner to have been visiting me for seven years, including bringing their babies to meet me. &nbsp;And I have pet rats they all absolutely love mealworms. &nbsp; As many other critters that I am very stingy and they don’t get them. &nbsp;The regular birds can have birdseed. &nbsp;Brand new colony out here as opposed to my enormous colony I had in Virginia.

  Great video with excellent tips! I always put any grain product in my garage freezer when it first arrives to avoid those mites! So gross.

  Thank YOU❣️❣️ I have watched many videos on meal worms and I have to say I love yours the best. &nbsp;I love your common sense approach and the way you make it so much more simple than most folks, boils down to observation and paying attention to the process. &nbsp;I think my grandson will totally love to help me more than ever, and will definitely be a great use for our empty aquarium 👍🏽💕❣️

  This was such a helpful video! Thank you for giving me the knowledge to try this. The mealworms I buy for my chickens used to cost $12 and they are now up to $20! Yikes! This will help so much.
