This should've been the birth of The American Nightmare.

The storyline that should've initially propelled Cody Rhodes into the main event, but instead he got turned into a gimmick character, but it ended up being the biggest blessing in disguise for him. Despite how things transpired after this incredible story (and that amazing tag match and Battleground which I still revisit to this day), WWE cooked with this entire angle and everyone played their parts well. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Little did they know Cody would finish the story years later.

Cody Rhodes had the second-best storyline against The Authority behind Daniel Bryan.

He said "my dad set Florida on fire and when he showed up here they put him in poka dots and made him dance.....my brother was the natural and they put him in gold paint and hes never been the same" then he left for almost a decade and showed them. Theres more than one royal family.

12 years later, Cody would become one of the biggest stars in the company.

The Rhodes Brothers vs The Shield was a good rivalry. The Rhodes feuding with The Authority was really entertaining. How ironic years later, we get Cody vs Seth & Cody vs Roman in the future.
