45:01 david just grew on me so much right now! I am so pleasant surprised he is such a down to earth normal person. The whole dialog was very funny. Respect to you, David.

Regarding the tennis schedule: simple- just get rid of mandates. Let the players play whatever they want to play and let the chips fall where they may. There’s no need to reduce the number of events just make them non-mandatory- every single one.

I’m normally a fan but I feel insane listening to you guys complain about laver cup. I agree that zverev drains some fun out of it,like he does with anything he participates in. But otherwise, literally what is the problem? The players like it, the fans like it, it’s well executed. If I was a casual fan, I would notice no difference between watching this and a regular tournament. Why are you the arbiters of which tournaments are worthy and which aren’t?

Also, why is it Tony godsick/ Roger Federer’s responsibility to make a women’s laver cup? They already put in a ton of effort and investment to make one tournament, which is much more than most players have ever done. Is someone preventing Serena Williams from creating a women’s laver cup?

Sometimes these opinions are just way too sanctimonious. It’s okay to enjoy things without looking for every possible detail to complain about.

Poor Matt had to be justifying why he enjoyed Laver Cup in front of Catherine. You guys are a real downer. Though thank you to David for keeping it up!!
I too enjoyed Laver Cup, it's one of my fav tournaments of the year, I always wait for it! Tennis is an individual sport and for a weekend all these amazing players become a team, there is a real team spirit, interactions. And it's different than Davis Cup because you can see top players together. We got a lot of great content and laughs and emotions and bench moments!!
Why be so judgemental. It's just a three day tournament once a year. I personally was rooting for the team, not individual players unlike you are all suggesting. And yes, seeing Alcaraz play was good but I am happy with the way it turned out and Sasha getting it to the finish line!! Great stuff!!!

A lot of people are saying that the system was changed in part because the Czechs were winning too much, diminishing other nations’ interest. The Czechs won 6 times in the 7 years up to 2018. The old system was so much better, they killed the event. Just like they killed the Davis Cup. The home-away system with the home fans was so much better.

David is a Gen Xer ( as are a lot of us listeners) and our superpower is being able to make something out of nothing, be scrappy and resilient in all situations. Current generations seem much less able to handle and adapt to less-then posh accommodations. That picture very much looks like a young lad in his first apartment! 😄 #TeamGenX

I have been listening to this podcast on and off for some time and recently, especially this podcast, I've been reminded why it's been more off than on. Catherine is clearly only interested/able to talk about the WTA side of things in any extent and for unnecessary amounts of time and without any criticism. On a recent podcast she completely glossed over the Jack Draper injury and the announcement that he will be out for the rest of the year to drone on about the new location of the WTA finals, as if that's going to take precedent of the NBA season. You guys spend the first half of the entire podcast talking about BJK Cup then go on to question the Laver Cup. An event that has been very successful despite its unique format. Why cant it be the Ryder cup of tennis? Who are you to decide that? Shall we take viewing figures and attendance from Laver Cup compared to BJK Cup? Doubt you'd want to do that of course. Have you ever heard of anyone ask why the BJK Cup isn't mixed? No you haven't. Just want to piggyback on the success of the mens event. Finally Catherine, please explain why you think you're the judge on whether Zverev can be involved in this event or not? He's won 2 grand slams this year, the event is drawing the best players but I assume you're hung up on something that he was never found guilty of. Is it guilty until proven innocent now in the 'Court of Catherine"? You’re insufferable. Do better.

With Anisimova not in form this season, Noskova did not have competition. We will see if/when Amanda comes back injury-free. On the topic of BJK, a team of America’s best - Anisimova, Pegula, Gauff, Townsend- beats Chechia. Would love for Amanda to play so she can find a way into LA 2028

It wasn't just Noskova last year at Wimbledon giving Anisimova a tussle. She was the China Open finalist in '25, as well. She's always been there if you weren't paying so much attention to Anisimova, Matt's obsession. She's only twenty-one. Muchova was favored coming into the Wimbledon final, but now it's clear Noskova is the true generational Czechia heir to Kvitova. She's never injured, consistent and improving, so I doubt she'll have the problems of Vondrousova, Muchova, and Krejcikova, the latter two developing later in age, especially Krejcikova, who's rarely consistent and always up and down in form and health and fitness, and now fading. Though I think the '23 Czechia team could have won against Italy had Katka and Krejcikova beaten Dabrowski and Fernandez in that deciding semi tie. I believe there was wear and tear that season because of the WTA finals immediately before BJK Cup, where Vondrousova, Siniakova and Krejcikova played in Cancun then had to rush to Spain I believe. A poor 1-6 final set with Vondrousova v Fernandez set the stage in that semi, where Czechia was up 1-0 with Babs' win over Stakusic. Czechia could have clinched a final berth against Italy, which could have been more competitive than this year's Czechia v Ukraine. Svitolina was 0-2 on hard courts against Noskova, so this match felt never in doubt with Noskova so consistent, with no real let up of form since her Wimbledon title except for her hiccup in the first round in Canada.

Going forward I think it will be Noskova plus-one for Czechia. She's a lock most of the time, with a power and service game so much more than what even Muchova could manage with her great defense and athleticism, as we've seen surprisingly at Wimbledon. That match signifies a reign going forward. The supporting cast of deep talent in Czechia will support Noskova in the coming years as Muchova and Krejcikova and Siniakova fade. Bouzkova is having her best year. So too the twenty-year-old Bejlek. And let's not forget Bartunkova, Valentova et al.

The finals this year was Noskova plus-one, the "one" being Muchova. With the weak fields of the other teams this was never in doubt. Paolini, like Krejcikova, is on the decline, maybe some decent wins here and there, but certainly nothing sustainable or consistent, though Paolini is by far more consistent than Krejcikova, and more fit. Muchova is having her best year, but like Svitolini her window is closing at the slams and BJK Cup because of her age.

Styritova rigged the game here with her ringers. Nice to see Muchova win something for Czechia, as both she and Noskova were in tears at the '24 Olympics with their loss to Bucsa/Tormo in the bronze medal match, quite the beat down I would add, not unlike Bucsa/Tormo crushing Krej/Siegemund in the Madrid finals that year. This Spanish duo should play doubles more, like Paolin/Errani. A great team, better than Bouzkova/Tormo that's for sure.

Something worth noting here: It seems that many countries either show up for United Cup in the beginning of the season, or BJK Cup at the tail end. But not both. Why? Who knows, Maybe a long season, fatigue, injury, or all the above. But it's worth mentioning when BJK Cup was held this year. It matters in the schedule. A warm up for Asia, instead of a denouement.
