Time is on Iran's side. They are at home while the aggressor is on the other side of the globe. It can't sustain a blockade for years without degrading morale and material to the point of no return. Meanwhile, Iran can control the strait practically forever. Geography is a crucial advantage for Iran.

And China/Russia haven't given Iran the really big missiles yet. Eventually they will. The legacy of British / French colonial rule in the middle east, with their hand-drawn straight line borders, with their dictatorships (aka kings) protected by USA/UK/EU, will come to an end.

Pascal is an excellent analyst. He synthesizes the situation objectivity, with nuance and realism. For instance, he doesn't fully subscribe to the idea that the Empire has no strategy (it does have a grand strategy). He also understands that the SA war on Yemen is a proxy war, not some bonehead move by a monarch who has his own agency.<br>Regarding Canada, it is a multi-pronged strategy of the Empire to gain more control of that country without rising fear and resistance from the Canadians. So, the Trump theatrics push the Canadians to embrace the EU, which is a US construct for controlling Europe. Then, once Trump's term is done, there will be rapprochement between US and Canada, and that means more willing concessions by Canadians because those will be acceptable compared to Trump's maximalist crazy demands. It's all about manufacturing consent.

The major problem for Iran 🇮🇷 they lost major defense hardware before 2026 war. The U.S. and Israel 🇮🇱 took out the majority of Iran 🇮🇷 Air defense and Air Force in the 12 day war in 2025. In September and October Iran 🇮🇷 had requested Russia 🇷🇺 2 times to replace it S-300 and S-300VM launchers systems and mobile radar systems and other equipment but do to the war in Ukraine 🇺🇦 Russia 🇷🇺 had nothing to give. Then Iran 🇮🇷 went to China 🇨🇳 in late 2025 but China declined to shipped military equipment to Iran 🇮🇷 do to its for policy.
