  The day he became Field Marshal he came to Lucknow. I was a Major at that time &amp; was fortunate to meet him during evening dinner in his honour. I was overawed by his magnetic &amp; towering personality. He was totally open. Looking back I am feel very sad that he was Not given due FINAL FAREWELL.

  My family has a 125 year history of serving in the army. My parents had him over for a few dinners, and served alongside him for some years. I interacted with him a few times during those days , and i always walked away thoroughly awed and impressed each time. What a man!!! He used to shine like a star even among large fauji gatherings of a couple hundreds.

  Being a Pakistani, I can&apos;t stop myself to praise Great Sam Manekshaw.. <br>May God bless his soul.<br>General Sam was a legendary personality of his time... <br>Dear Indians, you are very lucky that you had a General called Sam Bahadur ...
