  A doublet is always my go-to.  A good tuner is key, even with a balun.

  Cebik had quite a few interesting articles. I have a doublet and love it.  instead of zip tying i just have notches cut in the plastic pipe and it holds the ladder line just fine!.Great video

  Ok, Tim, you sent me down the research rabbit hole of ladder line. From my research, which brought back memories of studying for my first licence, it's recommended to give ladder line a slight twist every two or three feet to reduce noise, use 10 feet or less of coax to the tuner to reduce extreme losses along the coax and use 450 ohm line to reduce losses.
