Der größte Feldherr der Geschichte — Napoleon Bonaparte | Dokumentarfilm

Napoleon Bonaparte is one of the most famous and controversial figures in world history. No other modern ruler has left such a profound mark, and hardly any other figure is judged so ambiguously by historians to this day. Was he the savior of France, a reformer of European stature, a military genius? Or was he a power-hungry man, a tyrant, a man who cost millions of lives to satisfy his own ambition? This video offers no easy answer, because there is no easy answer. In this comprehensive documentary, Alexander Weiss tells the complete life story of Napoleon: from his childhood on the impoverished island of Corsica, through his training in French military schools, his breathtaking rise during the French Revolution, the campaigns in Italy, Egypt, and across Europe, to his coronation as emperor in Notre-Dame, the Russian campaign of 811, his downfall, his exile on Elba, the Hundred Days, the defeat at Waterloo, and his lonely end on the island of Saint Helena. This video examines Napoleon not only as a military leader and statesman, but also as a human being: his complex relationship with Josephine, his character, his contradictions, his strengths, and his blind spots. Particular emphasis is placed on historical accuracy: myths and popular misconceptions, such as questions about his actual height or the so-called Napoleon complex, are objectively addressed based on historical sources. Topics covered include the history of Corsica in the eighteenth century, the French Revolution and its political consequences, the military campaigns of the Napoleonic era, the creation of the Napoleonic Code and its significance for European law, Napoleon's administrative and educational reforms, the Continental System and its economic repercussions, the Russian campaign as a military and human disaster, and the question of Napoleon's historical legacy up to the present day. This video is for anyone interested in European history, political biographies, and the great figures of the past. It is intentionally designed as an educational, factual, and narrative documentary, without sensationalist oversimplifications or one-sided judgments.
