  I listened to the story.  It amazed me that the sign says Carver Farm Equipment since 1928.  Makes me wonder about the entire story.  But I did like it as I have been in Eldon's shoes.

  Growing up in Belvidere, Illinois, 75 miles west of Chicago, my mother was the secretary for the guys who worked out of the &quot;field office&quot; at the local Green Giant food processing plant. That was THE Green Giant, out of Le Sueur, Minnesota - before Pillsbury bought out Green Giant. The field office handled all of the planting, cultivating and harvesting operations. The operations took placed on leased land, as well as on &quot;company farms&quot; in the area. Green Giant had a fleet of modern Oliver tractors. I was told by one of the guys in the field office that Green Giant bought Oliver tractors instead of John Deere tractors because they cost much less and ran just as good as John Deere tractors.

  People that know say “smart men don’t buy John Deere.”<br>My employer owns 20 excavators. All were constantly on low beds going in to deal with DEF system problems. To the point he couldn’t afford low bed bills sometimes. All of us were annoyed because we deal with the frustrated customer in the field. So we wanted him to delete them all. He finally gave up and did it. We had 2 smooth years with everybody happy. For the last year and a half John Deere has been sending “updates” thru the satellite to the machines. They just reprogrammed 10 machines in the fleet from the sky and completely fucked us.<br>John Deere will stop at nothing to destroy the livelihood of their customers.
