During the early 60’s my mom while working at a shoe factory in southern Maine met an older man who was Armenian. His name was Stephen Stepanian and he shared how he and his older brother witnessed their parents killed by the Turks. They soon travelled to Paris to live with their uncle. We called him uncle Steve…he was so very kind and sweet.

Both of my grandfathers hailed from Mush; my grandfather’s father was a *fedayi*. We—now the fourth, and even fifth, generation—continue to pass the stories of what our family endured during the Genocide. Had the Entente powers of that era—Germany, France, and especially England, as well as the United States—compelled the Turkish government to halt the Genocide and brought the perpetrators to justice, much as was done with the Fascists; and had Russia not refrained from entering the First World War—acting in precisely the same manner as it does today—our people, despite suffering the most grievous losses, would have been able to restore their borders. Regrettably, history is repeating itself today in an absolutely identical fashion; our paramount duty as Armenians is to do everything within our power to ensure that we lose neither our Homeland nor the honor of our ancestors. We are bound to ensure that our descendants look upon us with pride, rather than with shame!

My grandparents survived the Armenian Genocide. Their lives are living testimony to what happened. History does not disappear with denial. One day, truth will be acknowledged—and I hope it is met with the courage to apologize.

I express my respect to those Turks, led by Hasan Cemal(writer, journalist, grandson of Cemal pasha )who do not distort history, demonstrate objectivity, and stand for the bitter truth.

I am very moved by this. Thank you to the creators of this documentary, and the people who are keeping more than memory alive. One thing that I would like to know more about are the remnants of the sword. How did they actually escape and eventually migrate?

My respects to Hasan Cemal — only a few have the strength to face the harsh truth. Yet that moment is the point from which one can overcome hatred and resentment.

This was very well made. May God rest those innocent souls. I, myself am a descendant of a survivor. My grandmother used to tell me very tragic stories of what her father had gone through. ✝️🇦🇲🙏
